Question: How long does it take to get started?
Simple Payroll
Payroll typically takes between two and four weeks to get set up. There are a few variables that impact the timing.
What are some of the variables?
- The number of states your company operates in (more states take a little more time to get set up as your power of attorney and get access to your accounts)
- The time of year (if we are close to the start of a quarter, we may push to the first payroll of the quarter). This does not apply if you are a new business!
- Responsiveness to our requests for information
- Attendance to implementation/ training meetings
How can I speed it up?
One of the biggest things that slow down payroll implementation is our access to your data.
If you can set us up with a login to your current system as soon as possible, things tend to get done much faster.
Once we have access, we will go into your system and pull all of the employee and year-to-date payroll information.
Why can’t it be done faster? I have seen companies that get you up and running in a few days.
Our implementation process is a bit different. We enter all the employee data, and year-to-date payroll information, and test everything for you.
Often, those fast turnaround times are because you are entering all of the data yourself.
We want to take the time to ensure everything is set up accurately the first time so you don’t have any tax penalties and everyone gets paid properly. Measure twice, pay once :).
But, I still need to get people paid faster than what you have outlined, what do I do?
If you are a brand-new business, this can go a lot faster because there are no prior balances or payroll to enter.
If you are currently using another payroll system or a CPA, just have them do one more payroll and we will enter that payroll information into our system for you.
It is better to enter one more payroll in our system (which we do for you) than to have people get paid wrong or have tax issues. Let’s take the time to do it right!
What does the process look like?
We start with a Kickoff Call where we meet your team, introduce our team, discuss expectations, and start collecting information.
We will then have a weekly call until after the first payroll is processed to make sure you are trained on the system and have access to everything you need.
Your dedicated Implementation team is the same team that will support you going forward. Once implementation is complete, you can reach out whenever you need help.
What does success look like?
